Cannot access IPMI virtual console (4282369)

Cannot access IPMI virtual console with newer Java installations, as it denies access.

Java comes up with the following error message when you start the Redirection Viewer:

Unable to find certificate in Default Keystore for validation.

Please upload the certificate using the Java Control Panel and try again.

Java Control Panel can be found at the following locations:

Windows - Start -> Programs -> Control Panel -> Java

Linux - Menu -> Settings -> Java

Java became more strict since Java 7 Update 51 and you have to configure the allow list in the following scenarios:

• If application is not signed with a certificate from trusted certificate authority.
• If application is hosted locally.
• Jar file not having the Permission manifest attribute.
• Application signed with an expired certificate.
• Certificate used to sign the application cannot be checked for revocation.

1. Check whether the IPMI software on your appliance is using the current version. We have the latest ones on our Knowledgebase part of the website.
2. Add the IP address and/or DNS name of the IPMI interface to the Java allow list.

3.  Also whether the necessary ports are allowed via the firewall.
   • Port 623 (UDP): IPMI (cannot be changed)
   • Port 5123 (UDP): floppy (cannot be changed)
   • Port 5901 (TCP): video display (configurable)
   • Port 5900 (TCP): HID (configurable)
   • Port 5120 (TCP): CD (configurable)
   • Port 80 (TCP): HTTP (configurable)
