User can connect using the IP address of the target server using following command:
ssh username@x.x.x.x@spsappliance.domain.local
but when trying to connect using the target server hostname, such as the following it fails:
ssh username@serverhostname.domain.local@spsappliance.domain.local
- The error below is received:
<<< Received disconnect from y.y.y.y port 22:2: Could not resolve hostname or failed to connect to remote host;
host='serverhostname.domain.local, port='22' Disconnected from y.y.y.y port 22
The hostname is resolved correctly by DNS on the client side using the command $ host serverhostname.domain.local
RESOLUTION:
- Make sure the correct DNS servers are defined in SPS under and that these DNS Servers can resolve the hostname in question:
Basic Settings > Network > Naming > Primary DNS server | Secondary DNS server
