Notice Regarding the Use of the One Identity Manager Web Designer Portal
As you know, since version 8.2, One Identity Manager has been moving functionality from the Web Designer portal, as well as from some of the desktop applications, to the new web portal built on the Angular architecture.
In November 2024, One Identity Manager version 9.3 is planned to be released in which the Web Designer portal will no longer be provided.
Version 9.2.3 will be the last version to include the Web Designer web UI.
The current release is 9.2.1, and based on our projected future release schedules, 2 more maintenance releases (9.2.2 and 9.2.3) will be released over the next year.
Version 9.2.3 will be provided full support until October 2026, and limited support until July 2027.
For our customers that are on 9.0 LTS (long term support), the limited support for that version will also be extended until July 2027 to allow for time to migrate.
It is highly recommended to begin planning and implementing any changes needed to migrate to the new Angular web UI as soon as possible.
Why this is being done
There are several factors in the decision to move to the new Angular portal architecture.  Here are a few:
  • Modern look and feel – Angular is a popular Javascript-based architecture with many features that will help us make One Identity Manager more user-friendly and offer a more fulfilling user experience.
  • Direction of .Net – Many of the .Net functions that the Web Designer Portal used are being eliminated or changed by Microsoft.  It is essential that we move to a different architecture.
  • Make upgrades easier – If an enterprise has many user interface customizations, it can be difficult and time-consuming to upgrade those customizations to a new One Identity Manager version.  By using the Angular technology, along with many other tools that are common to the modern developer, such as Git, the upgrade process will be made much easier and faster for the majority of our customers.
What this means to One Identity Manager customers:
If you have made any customizations to the Web Designer Portal, those customizations will need to be implemented on the new Angular-based portal.
