The missing domain does not have a shortcut trust relationship with the domain from which the user is testing the authentication.
For example in a single forest with three root tree domains:
Domain A Domain B Domain C
As shown above, Domain A and Domain C do not have a trust relationship directly with each other but do with Domain B (Root), therefore, when testing authentication:
- From Domain A, GinaConfig.exe will only show (Domain A, Domain B and the local machine name) in the drop down list of domains.
- From Domain C, GinaConfig.exe will only show (Domain C, Domain B and the local machine name) in the drop down list of domains.
This is expected behavior if no trust relationship exists between Domain A and Domain C.
Please check with your Domain Administrator on configuration requirements within AD Domains and Trusts as this is dependent on your environment.
