We do not recommend having CAM on the same server as other applications.
However, you can run multiple versions of .net on a server and specify that version in the app pool.

We do not recommend installing the STS or the Proxy on a server with other applications simple because the resource needs of the other application cannot be accounted for. There is no library or coding reasons for this recommendation, it is strictly performance based.
