What services need to be restarted after upgrading or installing a different version of Authentication Services?
After installing or upgrading to a different version of Authentication Services, it is recommended that you reboot the server. Please note a reboot is also recommeded if you are going back to an older version of the product.
If you cannot reboot the server, you must restart any services that would have made NSS/PAM calls and still be around. Common services that need to be restarted are sshd, crond, gdm, kdm, dtlogin, sendmail, databases.
The following commands can be used to list the processes using the Quest Authentication Services libraries:
Linux:
# lsof | grep quest\/lib
AIX:
# N=/dev/null;for p in `ps -eo pid=''`;do procmap $p 2>$N|awk '{if(/^[0-9]* : /){l=$0};if(/quest\/lib/){print l;exit}}' ;done | sort -k3
