After patching the HP system, telnet and su failed for users with long passwords -
原因
3rd party issue not a QAS issue. The max length of password is 8 characters. With the patch a password could be 256 characters. The operating system enhancement creates the file /etc/default/ENABLE_LONGPASSWORD. -
解决办法
The HP Operating System needed more config to use the long password. The Long Password enhancement was installed, but not configured to be used. The operating system appeared to truncate the passwords for the telnet users with longer than normal passwords because the LONG_PASSWORD=1 parameter was not set in /etc/default/security. SSH and FTP sessions were not affected.
