This document describes how to upgrade existing syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) installations to SSB 7.4.0. The document is meant to support system administrators in planning the migration to the new version of SSB.

All releases of syslog-ng Store Box (SSB) belong in the following categories (including their respective maintenance releases):
LTS release version
Format: <major.0.maintenance>, for example, 6.0.0, 6.0.1

Feature release version
Format: <major.minor.maintenance>, for example, 4.9.1, or 6.5.0
For more information, see the Feature release section under the syslog-ng Store Box Product Life Cycle Table.
These sections contain information about the general guidelines for supported direct upgrade paths in syslog-ng Store Box (SSB), the possible upgrade scenarios, and their recommended upgrade paths for upgrading from LTS or Feature releases to LTS or Feature releases, and detailed information about the possible upgrade paths to the current version of SSB (currently, version 7.4.0).
