Active Roles 7.4.x, 7.5.x, 7.6.x

Microsoft is deprecating Basic Authentication for Exchange Online as of October 1st, 2022 which impacts the ability of Active Roles to send email approvals through Office 365 Exchange Web Services or SMTP.

How does this affect me?

Customers on Active Roles versions 7.4.x, 7.5.x and 7.6.x who have Active Roles configured to send email approvals through Exchange Online will lose this functionality as of October 1st, 2022 unless they follow the below steps under Resolution. To determine if you have Office 365 Exchange Online configured as an email provider in the Active Roles mail configuration, please see KB 4341143.

Resolution

Microsoft is allowing customers to Opt-Out of the Basic Authentication deprecation until December 31st, 2022, however this must be completed during the month of September. We recommend all customers using email approvals follow the steps outlined in Microsoft Blog 3609437 and One Identity KB 4368782 at their earliest convenience.

Status

One Identity is currently working to address this issue and provide an alternative in our 7.5.x and 7.6.x product lines. More details will be released in the coming weeks regarding the versioning and release dates. We recommend any customers presently on earlier versions to upgrade to prevent any loss of functionality.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused and we are working quickly correct it.
