Configuring a connector
When you configure a connector in Starling Connect, you create a Starling Connect connector connection to your cloud application. Once you configure your connector, Starling Connect auto generates certain values. You can use these values to connect to One Identity Manager, hence allowing you to establish a connection between your cloud application and One Identity Manager.
This section describes the procedure to configure a connector in Starling Connect.
NOTE:
- To configure a connector, you must first sign into Starling, and then either subscribe to the Connect service or use a trial service.
For more information, see One Identity Starling Hosted User Guide on the One Identity Support site.
- When you subscribe to the Connect service or use the trial service, you can select United States (for the United States data center) or European Union (for the European Union data center) based on your location.
To configure a connector in Starling Connect
-
Navigate to the Connectors tab in the Connect page.
The Connectors tab displays the available connectors in the Connector Catalog section at the bottom of the page.
-
In the Connector Catalog, search for the connector that you want to configure and click the connector tile.
NOTE: Click LOAD MORE to see more connectors.
-
Enter the configuration details in the General Configuration page.
NOTE:
- The connector displays the available versions. Select the version that you require. You can also change the connector version later by using the edit connector option.
For more information, see Connector versions and Editing a connector
- Every connector license that you have, allows you to configure two different connections, one in the Production environment and the other in the Development environment. Hence, you can configure the connector to create a Starling Connect connector connection in your Development environment for testing, and then, configure it in your Production environment.
- Each connector requires a different set of configuration details. For more information about the configuration details for each connector, navigate to the section Supervisor configuration parameters for the connector that you want to configure, in this document.
-
Click TEST CONNECTION.
If the configuration details that you entered are correct, the message TEST CONNECTION SUCCESSFUL is displayed.
- Click SAVE.
Starling Connect auto generates the following values:
- SCIM URL
- Legacy SCIM URL
- SCIM Client Credentials
- SCIM Client ID
- SCIM Client secret
- SCIM Token Endpoint URL
NOTE: You must use the above values when you configure your connector in One Identity Manager, a SCIM client.
-
Click CLOSE in the dialog box that displays the SCIM URL and Legacy SCIM URL.
The configured connector is displayed in the Active Connectors section. You have now established a connection between Starling Connect and your cloud application.
Editing a connector
You can use the edit connector option when you want to:
This section describes the procedure to edit a connector.
To edit a connector
-
Navigate to the configured connector in the Active Connectors section and click the configured connector tile.
The Configuration page displays the configuration details of the connector.
-
Click EDIT.
The General Configuration section displays new versions of the connector, if available.
The Schema Configuration section:
- displays the Custom Attributes section, if this feature is available in your connector.

When you perform a synchronization, the values that you changed in the connector configuration are reflected in One Identity Manager.
NOTE: If there are any schema updates when you edit the connector, and you have an existing One Identity Manager Synchronization Project configured for the connector, you must perform a Update Schema on the One Identity side. Schema updates could be as a result of the changes related to:
- Custom attributes
- Disable or enable attributes
- Connector version for some connectors
For more information, see Connector versions
Deleting a connector
You may want to delete a connector when you are no longer using the associated cloud application.
This section describes the procedure to delete a connector.
To delete a connector
- Navigate to the configured connector in the Active Connectors section and click the configured connector tile.
The Configuration page displays the configuration details of the connector.
- Click DELETE CONNECTOR in the Configuration page.
-
Click DELETE in the confirmation pop up.
The deleted connector is removed from the Active Connectors section.
You will no longer be able to synchronize the data between your cloud application database and the One Identity Manager database if you are still using the associated cloud application.
NOTE:
- If you have deleted your connector by mistake and want to enable data synchronization again, you must reconfigure the connector in Starling Connect and re-establish the connection between your cloud application and One Identity Manager using the newly generated SCIM URL.
- For more information, see Configuring a connector.
Connector versions
Starling Connect versioning enables administrators to choose the desired version that a customer wants to be on. This enables backward compatibility for the changes done incrementally on the connectors. For example, if the target system APIs are updated or any authentication method is revised.
All the available versions that are available for the connector are displayed. V1.0 is the lowest available version for all the connectors. Also, the latest version is selected by default. Availability of new versions are notified with pop-up messages before and after configuring the connector. You can also change the version later.
Major versions include new features, enhancements, and changes at the target system whereas minor versions consist of bug fixes on the connector.
When you migrate to another version of a connector, you must perform Update Schema on One Identity Manager for an already existing One Identity Manager Synchronization Project.
For more information, see Configuring connectors.
